Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior representative said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
